USA Imports
All vehicles entering the United States must be at least 25 years old in
order to comply with the American DOT and EPA regulations. It is virtually
impossible to get the later Land Rover 90/110 models into the country
legally.
Many people have tried Kit car versions and vehicles re-built from spares and
have wasted large amounts of money and time only to find that they are unable to
get them titled and registered.
The importation laws are extremely strict and unfortunately there is no easy,
practical or legal way to bypass the U.S. customs and excise laws.
We are on a daily basis receiving faxes and e-mails from all over the States
asking for good used L.H.D. or R.H.D. series 2A and series 3 vehicles. Because
these vehicles have to be over 25 years old they are now very old and often well
worn used vehicles and suffering from chassis and bulkhead corrosion. They also
usually have a long list of mechanical faults and the bodywork is usually
somewhat past it.
The only practical way of obtaining a top quality Land Rover of the legally
correct era is to have it refurbished or fully re-built, thus obtaining a
vehicle in first class condition, but also in complete compliance of the U.S.
importation regulations.

Canada Imports
Vehicles entering Canada must be at least 15 years old in order to be
imported legally. So although they have similar regulations to the U.S. and some
of the same problems may arise, because the Land Rover 90/110 models were first
manufactured in 1983/1984 they can be legally imported into Canada providing
that the 15 years old rule is adhered to.
